  Pros  Cons
Extreme Performance  Very Heavy price tag
 Track Ready

Competition is hard to come by for the Duke 790 as not many people own 800 cc bikes in Nepal. But if Duke 790 riders find themselves in a meet-up then they should look out for the Yamaha YZF-R6, CBR 600RR, and the GSX-R600. In comparison, the price doesn’t seem too high given its competitors.

KTM RC 200

Moving on the RC lineup of KTM bikes available in Nepal, the KTM RC 200. As is standard with the RC lineup, the RC 200 comes with fairings that give the bike a much sportier look. However, the polarising design looks gorgeous to some and decent to others—you should make up your mind on the design after having a look in person.

The 200cc sport bike is powered by a 199.5cc single-cylinder engine that delivers impressive performance with a max power of 25 PS at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 19.3 Nm at 8,000rpm. As with all the other bikes on the list, the engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

Highlight features of the KTM RC 200

  • An LED Headlamp that now comes with a windshield unlike the Duke series.
  • LED DRLs that are integrated in the body.
  • Adjustable Clip-On Handlebars
  • A larger Fuel Tank
  • A redesigned two level seat.
  • Completely LCD Instrument Cluster

Duke RC 200

Compared to the Duke variant, the RC 200 costs more than a lakh rupees more. Buyers will have to decide if the new set of features that come with the RC variant is really worth the premium KTM is asking for.

For those not in the market for naked sport bikes at all, the RC 200 is the cheapest faired sport bike KTM has to offer at Rs. 6,74,900

KTM RC 200 Costs Rs. 674,000 in Nepal.

  Pros  Cons
High performance  Riding position is not good for long rides
Informative instrument cluster  Lack of a slipper clutch

While the KTM RC 200 has more features than its Duke counterpart, it also comes at a steeper price. Against its major competitor, the Suzuki SF 250, the RC 200 costs almost two lakh rupees more—even though it has lower displacement.

A slightly odd comparison would be the Yamaha R15 v3.0 or the R15M. Since the market for faired sport bikes in Nepal is quite small, the Yamaha competes with the RC 200 even though it has less power and displacement. Even then, the RC 200 costs around one lakh rupees more.

KTM RC 390

Unlike the KTM Duke series, the KTM RC series doesn’t offer a bike at the 250 mark. Instead, the jump is straight to the KTM RC 390.

The KTM RC 390 is powered by a 373.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC FI engine. The sporty engine generates a maximum power of 43.5 PS at 9000 rpm and a peak torque of 37 Nm at 7000 rpm.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, providing smooth and precise gear shifts.

  • Dual Disc Brakes
  • WP Upside Down Front Forks with WP Monoshock

  • Twin Projector Headlamp

KTM RC 390

These new features, along with the tried and tested performance of the 373cc engine comes with the price tag of Rs. 944,900—surprisingly, a bit cheaper than its Duke counterpart, but still over one lakh rupees more than the competing Apache RR 310 that TVS has to offer.

But perhaps that price premium can be justified with the spec sheet. After all, the RC 390 has aroud 10 Nms more torque than the RR 310.

However, in the end, it is up to the buyer to decide if the features are worth the price premium or not.

The KTM 390 Adventure Costs Rs. 1,089,000 in Nepal.

  Pros  Cons
  High performance Heavy price tag
 Built for adventure riding.

The KTM 390 Adventure competes with the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the BMW G 310 GS. As the most expensive bike in KTM’s lineup, the 390 Adventure prices itself between the Himalayan and the G 310 GS—while the 250 variant was considered a budget entry into the Adventure Segment.

At this price point, the 390 Adventure would be better suited for those who want the power and performance, as well as the unique reputation of the KTM brand that Royal Enfield and BMW lack.
